3 Ways to Collaborate Remotely

In our research using Glimpse, "collaboration" was number two in the top four most challenging parts of remote working.

The anxiety that creeps in when someone misinterprets an email or DM, can start affecting team productivity and overall morale. Not good. So, what to do?

While we can rattle off and explain tools to get teams more organized and working more closely (like G-Suite, Trello, or Monday), this time, we're going to go old-school on you.

Take a step back before you download a new app and try these:

  • Set deadlines: That way, teams know what they are working to achieve. "ASAP" is not going to hack it though, it's too vague. Make deadlines definitive i.e. daily, weekly, biweekly, etc.

  • Assign primary channels for communication: Do this for each project or task and make it clear what that channel is. Create timing guidelines if response times become an issue.

  • Review team meeting schedule: Put time in for regular meetings with solid agendas, where people show their faces. Body language is a big missing piece of remote working but Zoom/video on helps a bit. If you don’t have a clear goal for meeting though, don't have it.
